Unlocking Green Hydrogen Economy for SMEs in European Regions

DiTNE is a partner of the Project “UNLOCK – Unlocking Green Hydrogen Economy for SMEs in European Regions” co-financed under the programme Interreg Europe 2021-27This is an interregional cooperation project involving the Hanze University of Applied Science Groningen (The Netherlands) as Lead partner and the involvement of 7 other partners:

  • Province of Friesland (The Netherlands);
  • Puglia Region (Italy);
  • Subcarpathia Region (Poland);
  • Inter-Municipal Community of Médio Tejo (Portugal);
  • Mallorca Island Council (Spain);
  • Västerbotten Region (Sweden);
  • Ånge municipality (Sweden);

and the presence of 2 associated policy authorities

  • Centro Regional Coordination and Development Commission (Portugal);
  • Region Västernorrland (Sweden).

UNLOCK maintains i policy makers of different territories in strengthening the green hydrogen economy by promoting sustainable growth, SME competitiveness, and job creation. The development of the so-called Green Hydrogen Valleys is an ambitious policy objective of the European Union, in which large-scale industry, together with national and regional public authorities, plays a leading role, while SME participation is currently rather limited. UNLOCKIt therefore aims to:

  • reduce disparities between European regions, through the sharing of experiences and good practices;
  • improve the quality of governance networks actively involving local stakeholders;
  • ad increase the organizational capacity of the regions strengthening local economies based on green hydrogen, improving policy tools to strengthen sustainable growth and the competitiveness of SMEs.

Project activities began on March 1, 2023, and will end on February 28, 2026, with a one-year follow-up phase ending on February 28, 2027.

RENOVA aims to create a national network of local hubs, each grouping local consultants to provide standardized, high-quality support services to public authorities. The service will cover technical aspects such as energy audits, design, quality, financial engineering for Energy Performance Contracts and blended finance, as well as legal aspects (bundling, pooling, procurement, contracts) to bring renovation plans to life within public building portfolios.
The EASY WASTE project tackles the issue of marine litter in the maritime area between Greece and Italy with determination, with particular attention to waste dispersed both accidentally and intentionally. By promoting efficient collaboration between fishermen and port authorities, it provides comprehensive and innovative solutions capable of revolutionizing critical waste management.
The ProLIGHTmed project, co-financed by Interreg Euro-MED 2021–2027, aims to reduce CO2 emissions by optimizing public lighting in the Euro-MED area. It involves partners from various Mediterranean countries and integrates technical, socioeconomic, and environmental aspects.
